Stockton’s Conservative MP has demanded that Labour listens to the people of Yarm as the Council dishes out Conservative levelling up investment.
Levelling up funding awarded by the last Conservative government has been massive for our area, but Labour must finally start listening to what local people want.
The Labour Council’s management and consultation of investment in Yarm has been slammed by local MP Matt Vickers, with many local people, businesses and councillors sharing their concerns with him.
Yarm has been hit hard by Stockton’s cash-grabbing Labour Council in recent years - from battering local businesses with parking charges, to building way too many houses. Many residents know that Yarm is being used as a cash cow by Stockton’s shameless Labour Council.
Levelling up cash from the last Conservative government has already delivered huge investment across Yarm, Stockton, Eaglescliffe and Billingham. This includes the recently opened Diagnostic Hospital, alongside improvements to Preston Park, upgrades to Eaglescliffe train station, a new vocational training centre at NETA, and more.
Stockton’s Conservative MP Matt Vickers said:
“Stockton’s shameless Labour Council has failed to invest in Yarm and now, as the opportunity to improve our town comes forward - thanks to Conservative levelling up investment - they seem determined to ignore the views of locals.
“Labour always seem to dictate what they want to do, rather than listening to what local people want. Enough is enough.
I’ve worked my socks off to deliver the investment cash needed - Stockton’s Labour Council now must listen to residents about the improvements they want to see.”
Residents, businesses, councillors and local MP Matt Vickers will now take the time to scrutinise what’s been pushed out through the press to see what the impact and potential benefit to Yarm will be.
