More than a decade ago a local Police base in West Stockton was closed by the Labour Police Authority and has since sat empty and unused. Some time ago I started campaigning alongside local Conservative Councillors and campaigners to improve police presence locally.
After a great deal of time pursuing this and with the help of senior officers, we have secured a potential site to act as a police base. This would allow local police officers/PCSOs to use this space for their duties without the need to travel between the Town Centre allowing them to stay amongst local residents.
We're delighted to see that thanks to these campaigns and the Conservative Government there are now 207 more police officers, 15 more street wardens on our street, and more CCTV in problem areas matched with tougher sentences for those who commit the worst crimes. We believe a police base for West Stockton will help keep local streets safer.
